“Heritage Walk at the cursed fort : Tughlaqabad Fort”
Sair E Dilli presents walk to Tughlaqabad fort
Tughlaqabad, the fort that was a dream of the first sultan of Tughlaq dynasty Sultan “Ghiyasuddin Tughlaq”, he built this fort during his reign period of 1321-25AD.
The key idea behind the fort was when Ghazi Malik (Ghiyasuddin Tughlaq) coined the idea to the ruling sultan “Mubarak Shah Khilji” (1316-20AD) to built a new fort near to the 1st city of Delhi i.e Mehrauli. In respect of his General, Sultan Mubarak Shah Khilji said “When you become Sultan, you construct a fort here”. The conversation aplombed Ghazi Malik to built a fort there and gave Delhi its 3rd city Tughlaqabad. Unfortunetly the tussle with the great sufi saint Hazrat Khwaja Nizamuddin Auliya R.A over the Baoli at Ghyaaspur (Nizamuddin Basti) resulted the sufi to curse the fort “rahe ujad ya base gujar” & the key words from the Sufi saint to the Sultan “hunooz delhi door ast”
