Mohammad Shah Rangeela appointed Sa’adat Ali Khan as Nawab of Awadh in 1722, Saadat Ali Khan who declared independence from Delhi was to marry his elder daughter to his nephew Mirza Muquim Abdul Mansoor Khan, who we know as Safdar Jung.

Safdar Jung succeeded his father in law as the Nawab and his son built his Mausoleum known as Madrasa Safdarjung and was appointed chief Wazir of the Mughal court in 1748.

There were many ups and downs during these transitions that we will talk about as we walk around this last grand monument of the Mughal era that was inspired by the Mausoleum of Humayun.

We also talk about the three pavilions, The Jangli, The Moti and the Badshah Pasand and the most ornate gate in Delhi and much more besides.
